Unfamiliar rather than dramatic. It is not a massage and it is not a vibrating device. You strike the fork, press the flat end of the stem against bone, and feel a fine vibration spread outward before it fades.
I have never used one. Where do I start?
Start with the 128 Hz fork at the centre of your breastbone. Strike it on the activation block, press the stem to the bone, breathe out slowly, and let the tone fade all the way to nothing. Your included guide takes you through the practice step by step.
Why a fork instead of playing the frequency through a speaker?
A speaker moves air toward your eardrum. A weighted tuning fork can also transmit vibration through direct physical contact, so the experience feels different from simply playing a tone through a speaker.
What is the difference between weighted and unweighted forks?
Weighted tuning forks are designed to provide a stronger, longer lasting physical vibration through the stem. Unweighted forks generally project more audible sound into the surrounding air.
Is there real science behind this?
Vibration can be transmitted through bone, and 128 Hz tuning forks are commonly used clinically when evaluating vibration sensation. That does not mean tuning forks are proven to treat medical conditions, and we do not claim that they do.
Is there anyone who should not use them?
Speak with a qualified healthcare professional before use if you have an implanted electronic device, seizure disorder, metal implant near the intended placement area, are pregnant, or have another medical concern. Never place a fork on the eyes, throat, broken skin, or an area that is painful or swollen.
How long do they last?
With proper care, a tuning fork can remain usable for a very long time. Avoid striking it against hard surfaces and use the included activation block during use.
